24 year old Rumeysa Gelgi of Turkey is the tallest woman alive


Rumeysa Gelgi from Turkey becomes the tallest living woman in the world with a height of 215.16 cm. Rumeysa was measured again this year after first being bestowed the title of tallest living teenage (female) in 2014 at the age of 18.

Rumeysa Gelgi from Turkey becomes the tallest living woman in the world with a height of 215.16 cm. Rumeysa was measured again this year after first being bestowed the title of tallest living teenage (female) in 2014 at the age of 18.

The record-breaker suffers from Weaver syndrome, an extremely rare condition that causes accelerated growth, along with other abnormalities such as skeletal maturation.

Rumeysa mostly uses a wheelchair, but can move around with a rollator for a short time.

She believes it is important to educate others about rare diseases like her own. She says her size fascinates people when they walk past her on the street.

However, most people are friendly and supportive when they first meet them.

“Any disadvantage can turn into an advantage for yourself, so accept yourself for who you are, be aware of your potential, and do your best,” she says.

In her free time, she enjoys dining out with her family and swimming is a great help to relax her.
