The US-led coalition in Iraq said Saturday that a drone attack was carried out on a military base where US troops are stationed. The base is in Iraqi Kurdistan. There were no injuries.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi is expected to meet US President Joe Biden in Washington on Monday. You could discuss a possible full withdrawal of US troops.

“An unmanned flight system has hit a coalition base in Kurdistan,” said the coalition spokesman for US Colonel Wayne Marotto in the early hours of Friday morning.

“There were no casualties and no harm as a result of the attack,” he said, adding that “the United States and coalition forces will remain vigilant and uphold the inherent right to self-defense.”

Iraqi Kurdish media said the attack was targeted at a base in Al-Harir, 70 kilometers (45 miles) northeast of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Autonomous Region.

Pro-Iranian armed groups are held responsible for the attack. The attack is the latest in a series of attacks on US military and diplomatic facilities in Iraq.
