If you’re a regular IAB reader, you know we just love drag races. We have featured several drag races on our website over the years, mostly with cars and SUVs of a similar nature. However, this time we have a very bizarre set of wheels lined up for a straight race – a four-wheel against a bicycle. More precisely, the four-wheeler that is taking part in this race is a self-made one Bajaj Qute. This drag race was made by South Africa cars and the results were pretty hilarious indeed.

But before we go any further, here is a little background on them Bajaja Zit. The Bajaj Qute has four wheels, but it is not subject to the same regulations as other “cars” in our country. As such, it’s not a car, but a four-wheeler. The Bajaj Qute was first presented as a concept at the Auto Expo 2012 and after a long period of 6 years it was brought onto the market in 2018, only registered as a commercial vehicle. It was also taken off the market very soon as we moved into the BS6 era.

However, the Bajaj Qute is still sold in markets like South Africa, which is why it was featured here in this drag race. Coming back to the drag race, let’s address the specs of each of the two competitors. The bike is piloted by Ashley Oldfield, the publication’s resident racer who is also a prolific cyclist. They assume that it can generate around 1.6 hp that is sent to the rear wheels. And that was it. Meanwhile, the Bajaj Qute is powered by a 216 cc single cylinder engine that develops 13.2 hp and 18.9 Nm. The engine is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, with the power being transmitted to the rear wheels. The maximum speed is given as 70 km / h.

Bajaj Qute vs. Bicycle Drag RaceIn the first round of the drag race, the bike wins hilariously by a large margin over the Bajaj Qute.

In order to represent a real world achievement, the Bajaj Qute is even loaded with four passengers. In the drag race, the bike starts much better than the four-wheeler and quickly builds up a lead. Meanwhile, the Qute is seen fighting from the start, massively abandoned by its weight. In the course of the drag race, the cyclist expands the g even further. The Qute, on the other hand, cannot catch up with the cyclist even with the accelerator pedal on the ground. In the end, the bike wins with a confident lead over the four-wheeler for a really hilarious result.

Bajaj Qute vs Bicycle Drag Race 2The Bajaj Qute was able to save a bit of honor in the second round thanks to the narrow victory due to the reduced weight.

The people of cars decided to try again, this time with two smaller passengers, to redeem some honor for the Qute. In the second attempt the bike got off to a better start and took the lead while the Bajaj Qute was still fighting for momentum. Halfway through, this time with less weight, the Baja Qute managed to catch up with the cyclist. After being in the lead for three quarters of the race, the Qute finally overtook the cyclist and took victory in the second run. So there you have it – the most hilarious and unique drag race ever shown on IAB.
