Russia is trying to promise India a partnership as Moscow and Beijing align positions on Afghanistan




As world leaders debate how or whether to work with the Taliban leadership in Afghanistan, Russia has sought to reassure its longtime partner, India, that New Delhi’s views matter. On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and two agreed to set up a joint team of foreign policy and national security officials to assess the situation in Afghanistan.
