This isn’t the first time there have been shootings at a university. In early December, a 5-year-old student opened fire at his Michigan high school, killing three teenagers and injuring eight others. This was considered the deadliest US school shooting of 2021.

The suspect was arrested and a semi-automatic pistol was confiscated. However, there was no immediate explanation as to what might have triggered the attack in Oxford.

“There was no resistance during the arrest, and the suspect has requested an attorney and has not provided a motive,” the sheriff’s office said.
